The Plan of Chicago @ 100

Drawing on its international membership, the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (LAI) will publish a book of 15 essays on the Plan of Chicago in April 2009. The book includes photos taken by students from schools throughout the Chicago region who participated in The Fairchild Challenge photo and essay contest, an environmental competition sponsored annually by the Chicago Botanic Garden. LAI, in cooperation with The Fairchild Challenge, the Burnham Plan Centennial, and Chicago Metro 2020 sponsored The Burnham Experience. This day-long interpretive bus tour for more than 100 high school students was guided by LAI members, including prominent architects, planners, developers, and educators. The students created photos for the competition exploring how The Plan of Chicago of 1909 affected their communities.
