Lambda Alpha International, the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics, was founded in 1930 under the leadership of the renowned land economist and champion of academic freedom, Richard T. The Plan of Chicago @ 100Drawing on its international membership, the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (LAI) will publish a book of 15 essays on the Plan of Chicago in April 2009. The book includes photos taken by students from schools throughout the Chicago region who participated in The Fairchild Challenge photo and essay contest, an environmental competition sponsored annually by the Chicago Botanic Garden.
