Burnham Memorial

The memorial is made of Cor-ten steel plate, in contrast with the concrete and stone that predominate on the site, to make it legible and discrete. A flat area with trees at the western end leads to a large ramped surface with a stair providing access to the museums and Burnham Park. The project introduces visitors to Burnham’s accomplishments, consistent with his vision for Chicago’s lakefront.
