This is a possible future, but not necessarily an expected one. The 22nd Century will be the bio-chemical century. A transparent, biologically engineered, thermochromatic skin covers most of the central area. Heat trapped between and under the skins rises through eight solar towers where the rush of air powers a series of wind turbines. Centrifugal windmills provide additional power and Lake Michigan’s waters act as a heat sink. Taller buildings, both new and old, penetrate the transparent blanket.
