Come join urban planners, architects, historic preservationists, and overall Burnham enthusiasts from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and beyond for the 2009 Upper Midwest Conference of the American Planning Association, celebrating the rich legacy of the 1909 Plan of Chicago. Mobile workshops will fan out around the city and across the region to visit the best of Chicago-area planning. Plenary sessions will examine Burnham’s legacy in the development of a Midwestern metropolis.
Sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association, Landmarks Illinois, and the American Institute of Architects in Chicago, this conference integrates the Burnham Plan Centennial celebration to focus on 100 years of the Chicago region’s planning, architectural, and preservation history….and what this legacy it means to the future of these professions.
