  Interurban Trains & Tourism: Reclaiming the Past for the Future

Exhibit :

The exhibit features the original paintings commissioned in the late 1920's to promote tourism and economic development between Chicago and South Bend. These paintings, developed as a line of posters commonly known as South Shore Posters, are beautiful examples of vintage artwork portraying the early 20th century boom of Northwest Indiana. In addition there will be an expansive oil painting of the path from the Chicago area to the Michigan City, Indiana site of the CHicago South Shore & South Shore freight. Connecting that exhbit will be varous auciliary programs with speakers and art activities The exhibit and programs held in collaboration with the Chicago South Shore Freight & South Bend Railroad will run during the summer of 2009. An Opening Reception is scheduled for May 30, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m
