Edward H. Bennett is often an overlooked aspect of the 1909 Plan of Chicago. Fresh from his diploma at the École de Paris, he brought a French classic perspective to the preparation of the Plan. He also adapted to changing cultural situations in ways Daniel Burnham would not have foreseen. In this slide presentation, Edward’s grandson, Ted Bennett, himself an architect, and Arthur Miller, archivist and librarian for Special Collections at Lake Forest College Library, will explore Edward Bennett's life and work including his input into the 1909 Plan, and how he came into the fullness of his own career after Burnham's death in 1912.
