Make Big Plans: Daniel Burnham's Vision of an American Metropolis

The Clarendon Hills Public Library is one of fifty public libraries throughout the region that will simultaneously present “Make Big Plans: Daniel Burnham’s Vision of an American Metropolis,” an exhibit created by the Newberry Library for understanding and discussing the historical significance of the 1909 Plan of Chicago, critically examining its historical context, its influence on the twentieth-century landscape of metropolitan Chicago, on American regional planning, and how the themes that shaped the Plan and shaped the region are at play today.

 

This free exhibit will be on display beginning June 22nd, throughout the summer and into the fall of 2009.
