Shaping the Waterways: Environmental Imagination and the Making of Chicago

Theodore J. Karamanski, Professor of History at Loyola University in Chicago, and author of the book, "Maritime Chicago", will present a program on the manner in which  the Chicago metropolitan area has developed due the manipulating its environment.   Prof. Karamanski's illustrated lecture will explore the cause and consequences, intended and otherwise, of eight major environmental decisions, from 1836 to 1979, that continue to shape the lands and waters of the Chicagoland area.
