Grant Park Quadrifons
The design consists of four limestone quadrifrons – pavilions with four identical facades – arranged to frame Burnham’s Congress Parkway axis and extend it east toward Lake Michigan. They subtly define a public space surrounding Buckingham Fountain, evoking the museum that the Plan of Chicago intended for the site. The pavilions represent the four stars on the city flag. A double row of flowering dolgo crab trees will complete the ensemble, forming an arched promenade around the terrace.
