VERNON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT

The Vernon Area Public Library District (VAPLD) is your home away from home! Enjoy peaceful reading areas, study rooms, a community meeting room, preschool room and more than 30 computer stations. While at the library, you can check out books, movies and music (choose from thousands of titles, including new releases), meet friends or study groups, attend one of our creative library programs, participate in one of our many community events or find information you need using our staff expertise. We also offer daily newspapers and over 700 magazine titles for your reading enjoyment.

The Vernon Area Public Library is pleased host the Make Big Plans: Burnham's Vision of an American Metropolis through September 30, 2009.  For more information about the exhibit--curated by the Newberry Library--and the list of over 60 venues throughout the Chicago metropolitan region at which it is on display, to access the exhibit on-line or learn more about the Make Big Plans series of public programs click here.

The Vernon Area Library hopes that the Burnham-related programs throughout Summer and Fall of 2009 will inspire the vision of the Plan’s 100th anniversary within our community.  We hope to educate our community on Burnham’s original Plan of Chicago; and to boldly build upon the past success of his Plan in order to shape the future of Chicago and its suburbs.
