In March 2009, the UAA will hold its annual international meeting in Chicago in part as a reflection of the larger urban academic community’s recognition of the 2009 Centennial of the 1909 Burnham Plan. This is the first time the international meeting of the Urban Affairs Association has met in Chicago and it expects to attract up to 800 scholars from around the world to explore the theme: Contesting and Sustaining the City: Neighborhood, Region, or World? The conference includes a host of panels and colloquies on Chicago, the Burnham Plan and the future of our city and region which will be made specially open to the public, free of charge.
