Envisioning Joliet: Burnham, Bennett, and Beyond

Joliet Area Historical Museum

This exhibit provides insight into Daniel H. Burnham and Edward H. Bennett and touches on the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, the buildings of D.H. Burnham & Company in Joliet, Burnham's 1909 Plan of Chicago, and Bennett's 1921 Plan of Joliet.

Today, planners and architects continue to improve the city and increase its livability by expanding on Bennett's plan. With preparations for new campaigns such as the VOA Associates' transit center, the spirit of Burnham and Bennett lives on in Joliet. [MORE]

Back in "the day" there were imaginative plans for the city of Joliet. We'll start at the Joliet Area Historical Museum and ride through Joliet while learning about the background of historic buildings and a Burnham-esque dream known as "The Bennett Plan."
