The Burnham Plan Centennial - Bold Plans, Big Dreams

About the Centennial

About the Logo

The logo of the Burnham Plan Centennial, designed by VSA Partners, is based on a graphic device published in the original Plan of Chicago. It appeared on a map of a proposed regional rail network, to convey how freight rail loops serving the central city, the outer city and the suburbs all would connect and serve each other. The graceful image caught the eye of our 21st century designers, not only for its visual appeal but because it conveys regional cooperation and interdependence.
