WESTCHESTER PUBLIC LIBRARY

Westchester Public Library serves the residents of Westchester Township in northern Porter County, Indiana on the southern shore of Lake Michigan. The library comprises the main library in Chesterton, a branch library in Porter, the Westchester Library Services Center in Chesterton and the Westchester Township History Museum, located in Chesterton in the historic Brown Mansion.
 
The Westchster Public Library is pleased host the  Make Big Plans: Burnham's Vision of an American Metroplis exhibit from June 19 - September 27, 2009 and the August 2 program featuring Carl Smith. Make Big Plans: Burnham's Vision of an American Metropolis

The Westchester Public Library is hosting Make Big Plans: Burnham's Vision of an American Metropolis at the Westchester History Museum located at 700 W. Porter Ave, Chesterton, Indiana. The exhibit will be on display until September 27 in recognition that Daniel Burnham included the three norwest Indiana counties of Lake, Porter and LaPorte in his historic Plan.

The Plan of Chicago: Daniel Burnham and the Remaking of the American City

Westchester Public Library

Westchester Public Library will host Carl Smith, author of The Plan of Chicago: Daniel Burnham and the Remaking of the American City. The event will take place at the Westchester Library Service Center at 100 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton.
 
Smith will present an illustrated talk describing the fascinating history and central role Burnham's plan played in shaping Chicago and American city life. Copies of his book will be available for signing and for sale. Refreshments will be served.
